ROOTED HERE SINCE 1997

A little Italy,
grown wild in Heathcote.

McIvor Estate began as a grazing property in the folds of the Great Dividing Range. Today, vines and olive trees follow the land between granite boulders and rolling hills.

FIELD NOTE / 01

Old-world varieties.
A distinctly Victorian place.

The estate was modelled on a traditional Italian mixed farm. Its vineyard and olive grove thrive in free-draining granitic soils, with dramatic ashen boulders shaping both the view and the wines.

McIvor helped pioneer alternative varieties in the Heathcote region, with early plantings of Sangiovese, Nebbiolo and Marsanne alongside Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

BEYOND THE VINES

Olive trees belong here, too.

The first olive tree was planted in 1999. Frantoio, corregiolo, manzanilla and nevadillo blanco now flourish in the same free-draining soils as the vines.
